What is cross-docking?

Cross-docking is a warehousing strategy that skips long-term storage. Inbound freight is received, sorted, and moved almost immediately to outbound trucks for its next leg — often pre-sorted and already labeled for specific destinations. Instead of putting product on a shelf and picking it later, you flow it straight through the building.

The payoff is speed and lower cost: less time in the warehouse, fewer handling touches, and less inventory tied up. RS Group runs cross-docking out of our 80,000 sq ft Atlanta facility, about 30 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson — and pairs it directly with our brokerage so the inbound and outbound legs are handled by one team.
