Partial truckload (PTL) shipping lets your freight share a trailer with a small number of other shipments, while staying on the same truck from pickup to delivery. You pay only for the space you occupy — but because the freight does not pass through LTL terminals for consolidation and deconsolidation, it moves with fewer touches and faster transit.
PTL is the right fit for shipments roughly between 5,000 and 40,000 pounds, or about 5 to 14 pallets — bigger than a typical LTL load, but not enough to justify reserving a whole trailer.
